People Who Survive Mental Trauma Better

Memories are integral part of our lives. In fact, we live with our memories. Some memories haunt. They come in flashes and hit you deep. They leave you traumatized but they never leave you alone.

And, it can be fearful. The only way to keep them away is to not think about them. But, is that possible? No need to answer.

The only way to distract yourself (from recurring agony) is to keep yourself engaged. Some people deal with their agonies better. Or you can say their specific traits help them endure their agonies.

Who are they?

Artists:

"Art is the only way to run away without leaving home": Twyla Tharp

Art is therapeutic. Be it painting, writing or craft. It engulfs your thought. Artists can blend their creativity with their agonies and paint something else. Art gives a new flight.

Not permanently, but art definitely help you to heal. So, the artists heal themselves better.

Readers/Bookworms:

"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body and prayer is to the soul": Matthew Kelly

Again, reading is therapeutic and it makes you happy and calm. Its ability to take you to a different world is like magic. Books can be your best companion! You might not have other luxuries but you can have books any time and it's enough.

Readers dive in and float in a new world where they create their own imagery, smile, feel sad (for the fictional characters and situations) and almost forget their woes for a while.

Travellers:

"Travel...the best way to be lost...and found...all at the same time": Brenna Smith

Even though, I don't travel much, I understand how relaxing it can be. It widens your horizon and makes you see things in a new perspective. Sometimes, you might find a new YOU!

Those who love their work:

Sometimes, getting back to work turns out to be the greatest stress reliever! It is important to make sure that you enjoy your work. Do what you love, and try and find ways to love what you do.

Engaged in Social Media:

Yes, indulging in social media activities can be the biggest distraction! The clamour of twitter (I don't like Facebook!) somehow calms your own disturbance. Reading different point of views on blogs gives you solace and enriches your thoughts. Engaging yourself thoughtfully with people who think likewise is satisfying.

The fact is the wheels of time never stop and you have to keep the pace. Come what may. You need to find new purpose in your life, and keep walking. Memories will follow you, yes, but how about focusing on the good ones?

Life carries bigger conflicts than fiction

Image Prompt @ The Mags

Life may come in different forms for different people, but overall, it's a journey. Life, full of winding paths. Paths, that, sometimes, won't give you the liberty to relax. No matter how generous life seems, it won't offer you wings of fortune and convenience, to find your happiness. To chase your target. To follow your dreams. Sometimes, it becomes abrasive, oblivious to your churning emotions that you can't afford a tearful resentment. You need to turn into a warrior to fight your shares of troubles and agonies. You need the sword of power, courage and determination. And, set off, alone, for that vast, uncertain journey, balancing twists and turns. Life carries bigger conflicts than fictions.

The best thing is that, just like fictions, there's always a flicker of hope that this path, unstable may be, might lead you to your destination!

Notes from Life!:

Don't be Afraid: That you won't be able to manage alone. You can solve any problem.Try. There's always a way. You just have to find that out. Sometimes, helplessness help you to find that way!

Never Underestimate Yourself: You are actually stronger than you think. And, difficulties make you stronger.

Patience is the Key: Yes, to tackle any situation, you have to be patient. Some efforts yield late results. So, hang on, and have patience.

Self-Control: Anger, frustration and tendency to give up. You will experience all these when in difficult situation, but perseverance works best when in life turns unfair to you.
