Heat of anxiety

© Written by Tarang Sinha

Just a glance at the question paper
Ears grew hot
Throat clogged
Felt the jaws aching
I wipe my dampened palms
Sitting in the examination hall
I realize, it’s the heat of anxiety

What if  you learn a lot with full dedication (At least you think so) but questions in the test paper seem alien to you? What if you find some questions dancing in front of your eyes which you ignored and thought they were not 'that' important? Moreover, time is running out and you see all your friends engrossed in writing...

Sometimes, it happens due to extreme nervousness. One of my relatives, a brilliant and dedicated student, returned after the paper and started crying. everyone was shocked. A student who studied well and had great knowledge couldn't write well in exams. He said "As I got the question paper, I started to feel as if I knew nothing."

  3. Sadly this does happen. But weird as I am, I like to give exams. Actually the less I am prepared, the more I enjoy the actual exam process.

  13. Test taking can be tough, especially when you are sitting for college entrance exams. I remember studying so hard for the SAT and then not doing very well. Then I went and took the ACT and practically aced it. I was more relaxed and didn't overly prepare...just went in and took it. You captured the emotions felt in the heat of the moment perfectly!

  21. I somehow think that we never truly outgrow those types of feelings that we have when we take a test. Throughout life one takes many tests. But I think after one graduates from school the hardest tests we take after that are the ones when we go for job interviews. I do not think that any test in school prepares one for taking an oral exam during a job interview. Especially since they can ask you questions totally unrelated to your job. But then again some people think the hardest test is when their baby tests them as a parent. We all want to pass that test.

I love the heat you have shared with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. May you pass every test you take and good luck for your cousin on his tests too.

    God bless.
