With every wave comes
A gush of warm memories
Carved like names on rocks.
Fragrant emotions
Wash over me, I smile
Like a crimson dusk
Screaming solitude
Lingering sadness, I weap
Like a dewy dawn

ReplyDeleteMemories are such a large part of our beings.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I loved the contrasting imagery between the transience of waves and the warm memories being carved. And the suggestive hint that our emotions are also like waves- they rise, they threaten to overpower us, and they wane, while leaving a lingering tinge of sorrow behind.

Warm memories can bring us so many emotions.....happiness at those good times, but then also, as you've suggested, a sadness at the loneliness we feel over perhaps no longer having that person in our lives. Great imagery here.
