Who is professor Diwakar?

In my childhood I read some books (Science fiction and fantasy) by Professor Diwaakar and liked them a lot. Unfortunately whenever I wanted to buy the books of this series (actually not series, every novel has different story some of them set in the era when traveling to moon and other planet would be common), the bookseller would ask me “who is professor Diwaakar?” Now people read “Harry Potter” and “Goosebumps” but no one knows about his novels. I haven’t found any trace of these novels on even internet.

I cherish the pleasure of reading those novels from our old library. All the books were amazing!

Samay ke Swami: A man got an old watch from his scientist uncle which could stop the time or pass the time with the speed of light. There are very funny and interesting incidents, as the man uses that watch. A fun book!

Antariksh ke hatyaare: What if the world would have been guided by some brilliant scientists and their artificial solar system? This novel tells about the consequences.

Shukra grah par dhaawa: An adventurous travelogue. Some scientists travel to Venus to find out some facts. The hero meets a beautiful girl of Venus and falls in love. It's also a sad love story, as the girl was a robot and her inventor (A crazy scientist of Venus) destroys her.

Amaanush: What if some intelligent animal like structure lived on the moon?

Paanch Yamdoot: Five scientists try to save the earth in danger.

And many more… Interesting. Isn’t it?

  1. Let me tell you a funny story. Few years back I posted the same question (who is prof diwakar) on the internet. After 2-3 years, suddenly I searched for prof diwakar on Google and I found the very same question (posted by me). I jumped from my table that atleast there is one person who recognized prof diwakar. I answered that question and that answer came in to my own inbox. Then I came to know that was my own question.

Really his novels are amazing and they are one of the valuable part of my childhood memory.

    1. Yes I do remember "Vinoseem" (Vinod Seema) Novel I read that book when I was 15 year old. The novel was inspired by a science fiction short story "Light of Other Days" written by Irish writer Bob Shaw. "Vinoseem" was the most believable science fiction novel I ever came across. I don't remember the name of the author.

  15. I've been looking for his books all over. I read them as a kid. What's shocking is that I saw a book recently called, 'Gods of War' by Ashok Banker which is exactly the same as Panch Yamdoot. Again no credit to Mr. Izhar Asar/ Professor Diwakar

  16. Dear Friends
I think these novels go back to 1975s. I have read them. Actually along with professor Diwakar there was one Mr Raman who also wrote a number of sci fi novels these included "Kaidi Kirane" What somebody above is refrring as VinoSheem (A glass that could store images), another was "Achumbak" a material which would repel instead of attract.(Opposite of magnet). I am sure some will remember these. Most of these books were published by Hind Pocket books Delhi.
There are so many hindi lovers out here, I am sure you will also remember Chandrakanta Santati, Bhootnath, Rohtasmath

Dutta ji too since he provide the answer of a question which was puzzling me since my childhood that who is the actual person behind this name. Mujhe do chije lagti gain..ek shayad ye videshi books our filmo ki stories Ka indianisation raha hoga jiski wazah se writer Ka real name use nahi kiya gaya..dusre writer ki bad me hind pocket books se bani nahi kyunki pro Diwakar ke kuchh novels bad me mayur pocket books ne bhi chhape the our hind pocket books ne science fictions ko dr. Raman ke nam se chhapna shuru kar diya tha kirno ke chor, achumbak jaisi books dr. Raman ke nam se aayi thi... Jo bhi ho sab books this bahut shandar our sammohak

  18. @ Sandeep Agrawal: Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

Yes, some of the books were authored by the name of Dr. Raman, but I think Samay Ke Swami was authored by Professor Diwaakar (As far as I remember).

Publishing industry has changed and I am not sure if they would republish. :)

This time when I going to India I will forsure bring those books with me , I want to read those book to my childerns (5 and 10) , still got full size godrej wardrobe collection of comics, novels etc which I collected over 15 years ....got Raj Comics, Manoj Comics, almost every SC Bedi series, Ibn safi novels , SMP , JHC along with my most loveable Dr Raman and Prof Diwaker . I though sometime to ship whole collection here in Canada but then change mind as here its hard to to maintain them, but definately I will bring ones which are best science fiction novel. Honestly lots of things we read in Internet now has been written by them 50 years ago, unbleivable .
